Get ready, fellow trainers! The Pokémon Company International just announced the next expansion for the bestselling Pokémon Trading Card Game, Scarlet & Violet. Inspired by the recently released Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet video games, this new expansion is set to launch worldwide beginning on March 31, 2023.

Scarlet & Violet is the first expansion in the Scarlet & Violet Series, which was unveiled during the 2022 Pokémon World Championships. Fans are in for a treat as this new expansion sees the return of the Pokémon EX gameplay mechanic, with high HP, powerful attacks, and abilities at every stage of evolution. But, when a Pokémon ex is knocked out, it gives up two Prize cards instead of one!

To make the Pokémon Trading Card Game experience more seamless and exciting for all trainers, the Pokémon Company International has implemented several card design improvements starting with the Scarlet & Violet expansion. The yellow borders on Pokémon TCG cards have been replaced with gray borders to match the cards released in Japan. And, subcategories for Trainer cards such as Supporter, Item, and Stadium, will appear in the top left corner to make them more visible in players’ hands. Basic Energy cards will display another Energy symbol on the bottom right corner, and expansion symbols will be replaced by expansion codes and language codes on all cards.
